Privacy Policy

Effective: October 9, 2026 · Last updated: October 31, 2026 · Provider: Takashi Nakano

1. Scope

This policy applies to the iPad learning app Programming Dojo for MATLAB® (the App) and its product, support, and privacy webpages. The app is available on the App Store. The App uses Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) for banner ads and Google User Messaging Platform SDK (UMP) for required consent.

2. Learning records on your device

No app account is required. The App stores lesson completion, quiz answers, practice checks, learning-stage drafts, self-certification status, and the most recently opened lesson on your iPad to support learning and progress. These records and lesson inputs are not automatically sent to a Developer-operated server or included in ad requests. There is no developer-operated account or cloud synchronization. Device backups follow OS and user settings. The App does not use separate Firebase Analytics or third-party crash-analysis SDKs beyond the advertising and consent SDKs. Information you voluntarily send to support is covered below.

The “Don't show again” startup preference is also stored on your device. Re-enable the notice in Setup & Usage. This preference is not sent to a Developer-operated server or advertising services.

3. Advertising and consent SDKs

Google and businesses involved in ad delivery or measurement may process IP addresses and approximate region, device or app identifiers and environment, ad impressions and interactions, SDK usage information such as launches or interactions, crash/performance/diagnostic data, and consent status or privacy choices. Purposes include ad delivery, frequency management, fraud prevention, measurement, diagnostics, service improvement, and consent management. Processing depends on SDK versions, settings, region, and your choices, and may occur in countries where those providers operate.

The App requests non-personalized ads and disables ad personalization and Publisher first-party ID. It does not request authorization through Apple's App Tracking Transparency. Non-personalized advertising still involves data processing. Banners are limited to Home and lesson lists, not lessons, quizzes, practice, search, or reference reading. Learning features remain usable when ads cannot be loaded.

See the Google Privacy Policy, Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure, and Google's partner-sites information.

4. Consent and choices

Where required, Google UMP presents a consent form. The App does not initialize the ad SDK or request ads until UMP permits ad requests. Open Ads & Privacy to review policies, report an ad, or change privacy choices when UMP requires that option. AdChoices or ad information controls may also be available. Ads are reloaded following a change. Resetting learning records is not the same as changing advertising choices or deleting data held by Google.

5. Clipboard and training files

Copy Code writes the displayed sample to the system clipboard at your request; the App does not send that code to a Developer-operated server. Save Training File uses Apple's standard file browser and your chosen destination. The App does not upload exported CSV files to a Developer-operated server. Storage providers such as iCloud Drive or MATLAB Drive apply their own terms and privacy policies. Programming Dojo for MATLAB® has no API connection to MATLAB® Mobile™ and does not automatically receive execution results or sensor logs. You run code and record sensors in the separate MATLAB® Mobile™ app.

6. Retention and deletion

Learning records remain on your iPad until you reset them or delete the App. Use Setup & Usage > Reset All Training Records to delete them. Separately exported files and OS backups must be managed at their destinations or through their settings. Advertising and consent retention, deletion, and controls follow the relevant providers' policies. Resetting local progress or deleting the App does not necessarily delete information held by Google or other providers.

For code practice on iPad, use MATLAB® Mobile™. To use MATLAB® Online™, read the lessons on your iPad and run the code in a supported browser on a separate PC. Full functionality requires a valid MATLAB license linked to your MathWorks account. Check MathWorks requirements, including eligible license types and current Software Maintenance Service. Limited free access is available without a license, with feature or usage limits. Lessons and knowledge checks work in this app alone. Device-sensor tasks require MATLAB® Mobile™.

7. External services

User-selected links can open MathWorks pages, Google policies or reporting pages, and an advertiser's website or app. Their terms and privacy policies apply. The App has no in-app purchases. App Store download-related information is handled under Apple's terms and policies.

8. Children's privacy

The App is primarily intended for approximately first-year university-level learners, not the App Store Kids Category. Parents or instructors should consider age and understanding, external-service terms, and advertising choices. Advertising SDK processing is described above.

9. Support information

If you voluntarily email support, your email address, message, and optional device details or screenshots are used to respond, investigate issues, and provide necessary follow-up. Do not send confidential or unnecessary personal information. Support information is retained for the period needed to handle the inquiry, then unnecessary information is deleted, except where retention is required by law. Contact us to request review or deletion of your support information.

10. These webpages

The product, support, and privacy webpages for Programming Dojo for MATLAB® do not contain their own analytics or advertising tags. The shared site script stores the display language in browser localStorage without sending that setting to a Developer-operated server. Hosting is provided by GitHub Pages; see the GitHub Privacy Statement. Other pages on this site and external services have their own notices.

11. Changes

This policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated when features, SDKs, data practices, or applicable requirements change. Material changes will be announced on this page or by an appropriate method, with the revision date updated.
