Policy

wayaknow (“the App”) respects your privacy. This policy explains the information the App handles and how it is processed.
1. Data collected by the developer
The App does not transmit or collect audio, transcripts, translations, summaries, usage history, device identifiers, contacts, location, or other personal data on servers operated by the developer.
The App has no user accounts, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party crash-analysis SDKs.
2. Audio, transcripts, translations, and summaries
The App processes microphone audio selected by the user for live transcription and translation. On macOS, when the user explicitly selects Mac System Audio, the App processes audio playing on the Mac for the same purpose.
Speech recognition, translation, and user-requested summaries are processed using on-device frameworks and models provided by Apple. The App does not send audio, transcripts, translations, or summaries to the developer’s servers.
Speech-recognition models or translation languages provided by Apple may need to be downloaded on first use. Apple’s privacy policies apply to information handled by Apple services.
3. Microphone and speech-recognition permissions
The App requests microphone and speech-recognition access for live transcription. You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in Settings or System Settings. Revoking a permission makes the related input or transcription feature unavailable.
4. Screen and system audio recording on macOS
When Mac System Audio is used, the App requests macOS screen and system audio recording permission. The permission is used to transcribe audio playing on the Mac in real time. The App does not save screen video or send it to the developer’s servers.
5. Camera
The iPhone and iPad app information contains a camera purpose string required by AVFoundation input-device APIs. The App does not capture, display, save, or transmit camera video.
6. Saving files
When you select Save, the App stores transcripts, translations, and generated summaries as a text file in the location you choose. You control the saved file. The App does not transmit it to the developer’s servers. Delete it yourself in Finder, Files, or another file manager.
7. Sharing with third parties
Because the developer does not collect user data from the App, the developer does not sell, share, or disclose such data to third parties. If you choose to share a file created by the App, its handling is governed by your choices and the destination service.
8. Retention and deletion
The developer has no App user data to retain or delete. You can delete text files stored on your device and revoke microphone, speech recognition, screen, or system audio permissions in device settings.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children. Regardless of age, the App does not collect personal data on the developer’s servers.
10. User responsibility
Before transcribing, translating, summarizing, saving, or sharing meetings, conversations, or other audio, confirm the necessary rights, licenses, participant consent, third-party service terms, copyright, privacy, confidentiality obligations, organizational rules, and applicable law.
The App must not be used to circumvent DRM, encryption, copy protection, access controls, or other technical protection measures of third-party services. See the wayaknow Terms of Use for details.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the App, law, or regulations change. Material changes will be announced on this page or by another appropriate method, and the effective date will be updated.
