Policy

Hashleaf (“the App”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how the App handles Markdown documents and related files.
1. Data collected by the developer
The App does not transmit or collect selected Markdown, images, linked files, generated PDFs, usage history, device identifiers, contacts, location, or other personal data on servers operated by the developer.
The App has no user accounts, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party crash-analysis SDKs.
2. Markdown and local-file processing
Selected Markdown is processed on your device to display the document, generate a table of contents, search text, render math, and detect text encoding. With Hashleaf Pro, relative images and linked files inside an authorized folder are also read on the device. On Mac, PDFs are generated on the device and saved in a location you select.
The App does not upload your files to the developer’s servers or use their contents for advertising, tracking, profiling, or training machine-learning models.
3. Remote web images and links
If Markdown contains an image URL beginning with https:// or http://, the App’s document view contacts the specified third-party web server to retrieve that image. The server may receive your IP address and general device or connection information. The destination service’s privacy policy governs that processing.
Web, email, telephone, and external-file links are passed to a compatible system app when you select them. Information handled at the destination is governed by that app or service’s terms and policies.
4. Files, Finder, and cloud storage
The App uses Apple’s document picker and File Provider to access only files or folders you explicitly select. Neither the App nor the developer receives account credentials, passwords, or OAuth tokens for Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, or another storage provider.
When you select a cloud file, the provider or Apple may download it to the device. Apple’s and the storage provider’s privacy policies govern that communication and cloud storage.
5. File and folder permissions
The App reads only the selected file or folder within the access granted by the operating system. Hashleaf Pro stores up to 32 security-scoped bookmarks in local app settings so it can reopen documents in a previously authorized folder. A bookmark represents operating-system permission to a folder; it does not contain document contents or cloud-service sign-in credentials.
6. Hashleaf Pro and In-App Purchases
The App uses Apple’s StoreKit and App Store to load the Hashleaf Pro price, complete a purchase, verify entitlement, and restore purchases. The App receives product and entitlement information from the App Store and enables Pro features on the device.
Apple processes payment information. Neither the App nor the developer receives credit-card numbers or other payment credentials. Apple’s privacy policy and terms govern information processed by Apple for the purchase. The App does not use a developer server for App Store Server Notifications.
7. On-device retention and deletion
The developer has no App user data to retain or delete. You manage and delete generated PDFs, original Markdown, and images in Finder, Files, or your storage provider.
Saved folder permissions and app preferences remain on the device. Deleting the App removes its local settings and security-scoped bookmarks under operating-system management. It does not delete your original documents or cloud files.
8. Sharing with third parties
Because the developer does not collect App user data, the developer does not sell, share, or disclose it to third parties. If you use sharing, external links, or cloud storage, the recipient or service you select handles that information under its own policies.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children. Regardless of age, the App does not collect personal data on the developer’s servers.
10. Website and support correspondence
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical information such as IP addresses and access logs when serving a page, under GitHub’s privacy policies. The developer does not use advertising cookies or analytics on this website.
If you email support, the developer receives the sender address, message, and any information you voluntarily attach. It is used only to reply and resolve the support request and is not retained longer than required by law or an ongoing support need. You may request deletion by writing to the same contact address.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the App, Apple frameworks it uses, laws, or regulations change. Material changes will be announced on this page or by another appropriate method, and the effective date will be updated.

For privacy questions, do not attach Markdown contents, images, personal data, or confidential information to your email.
